Double page spread - final piece of my music magazine

This is my double page spread for my front cover of my music magazine. Following on from my double page spread draft, I wrote up a lot more information on the story, I added an image in the background and another little image on the other side of the page which has a little side-heading which reads ''The boys during the photoshoot''. Also, I added a fact file beneath each and every band member so the reader can find out more about their favourite band likes/dislikes. Furthermore, I managed to fit in 'The Nutters' beneath the main heading so it indicates what is actually on that page. Lastly, I put the page numbers (13 & 14) in large writing as that's mainly what every magazine does. The page numbers are in blue so it has a house style as that's what my contents page colour is.

Contents - final piece of my music magazine

This is my contents page which includes the heading of what my music magazine is called, numbers of each major page, interactivity which includes Twitter and Facebook, a large image scaling the whole of the contents page and there are headings for each major page too. In the contents page draft, I didn't add a good enough image and there wasn't enough colour added to excel the contents page. So, I mixed red, black and white as they are all colours that mix well to look better. Furthermore, the interactivity is small but is there to be seen as it's a chance for readers to get involved with the magazine.

Front cover - final piece of my music magazine

This is my final piece for my front cover of my music magazine. Following on from my front cover draft, I added two images (1 being a photo that is the size of the magazine and the 2nd photo being a small sized photo of George, one of the band members). Also, I added a black & white look to the band name and the writing beneath it, which reads ''100% Official. 100% Class. 100% Rock''. I thought that it would give off a good and creative look and I stick by that. Furthermore, I added more than 1 story down the left hand-side with the biggest headline being a bigger heading than all of the rest. Lastly, I wrote up a list of bands that were involved in the magazine to intrigue the reader and to excite them more than anything else.

I answered ''Looking back at my preliminary task, what do I feel I have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?'' by using a Bubbl.Us, which featured:
-Planning and Preparation
-Photography

Question 6 - Go Animation - EVALUATION

<a href="http://goanimate.com/videos/0x5x5MxiLZUs?utm_source=embed&uid=0dh0qZZl9CT4" target="_blank">Evaluation - Q6</a> by <a href="http://goanimate.com/user/0dh0qZZl9CT4" target="_blank">HarryParker123</a> on <a href='http://goanimate.com?utm_source=embed' target="_blank">GoAnimate</a><br/><iframe scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" width="400" height="258" src="http://goanimate.com/player/embed/0x5x5MxiLZUs"></iframe>

A 'GoAnimation' of two characters discussing what I have learnt by using new software such as Photoshop and how I have developed my skills. I used 'GoAnimation' because it's a new and cool software that not many people have used before. Therefore, no-one would get bored by watching it and it would be rather interesting for them to see.

Question 4/5 - Powtoon - EVALUATION

http://www.powtoon.com/p/fuJYARrfrBE/

This is a link to my powtoon.
It features:
-Public's opinion on how much the magazine should cost
-What the reader will like to see in the magazine
-My audience of the music magazine

Question 3 - Vocaroo - EVALUATION

Vocaroo Voice Message

I discuss which company fits my magazine's style. I mention why I choose the right and appropriate company as there are many reasons.

Thank you for listening.

http://prezi.com/ptp8exokg8j4/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy

  •      I examined the artists that I used in my music magazine
  •      I discussed how they represent my genre
  •      I discussed how they represent the readers
  •      I discussed my choices in camera work and mise-en-scene

Question 1 - Prezi - EVALUATION

http://prezi.com/fpzsopizad6q/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share

Front Cover - Preliminary Task

I got the task of designing a new front cover for sixth form and this is what I come up with. I decided early on that I would have the main heading as a big, bold heading in the colour black. Also, I changed the colour of the other two texts as it gives it a good look in my opinion. The photo in the background is of Jacob and Mae, both St Mark's sixth form students who are happily doing their work. The title is also in big writing so it stands out and it gives it a great effect.

Two of the actors used for my photoshoot in my music magazine

This is George Harvey, one of the band members of the band The Nutters. In my double page spread, I have produced a fact file for each and every band member, but this is a photo of George just to notify you all who he is!

This is my 2nd actor, Sean Martin. He was the main band member at the start of the photo shoot but I soon changed that so all four members were equal.

Photos of myself using Powtoon & Prezi - EVALUATION

In this first photo, I am seen editing my Powtoon that I made for one of the evaluation questions. I used Powtoon to see how much the audience would pay for my magazine, how my magazine could attract the audience and what gender my magazine might attract more.

Secondly, I am seen here using Prezi. I used Prezi to produce another question of the evaluation and I was editing it to make sure that it was 100% complete. I have used Prezi all throughout the year so I know how to use it, but it was just a case of what to type in the boxes.

The venue where I shot the photos for my music magazine

This may seem very bland and boring but with the black & white colour I put on the brick wall, it proved very effective. I had lined up the band members against this wall as I believed that it was a perfect setting as nothing major was in the way that was off-putting.

This is another photo of the setting. As you can see, it wasn't just a boring brick wall. It was indeed right outside the Sixth Form block.

Editing photos (used/not used) - Photos of Sean.

These are four of the images that I had taken of Sean, one of the band members.
I didn't use all of them, whether it was because the setting was right or Sean's emotions were appropriate.
These four different images all show different camera angles, whether it be a medium shot or a long distance shot. It all depended on the setting and the type of image that I was looking for.
Also, these four images show the variety of different types of images, as Sean is seen in Photo 1 playing the drums, whereas the 2nd Photo is posing for the camera whilst staring down at the lens in front of the wall. Thirdly, the image scenery is back to the instruments room, but this time Sean is playing the guitar but I didn't go with the image because of his emotion - I didn't think that it was appropriate. Lastly, Sean is doing the same thing as Photo 2 but this time, he's seen standing up against the wall so this is a long-shot as it's a photo of his whole body, not just his face. He is seen to have suave by his casual look.

What my plan was for the music magazine

- To organise a meet-up with my band members in order to take photographs of them
- To create drafts of my music magazine so I could make late changes if needed
- To decide who my intended audience were so the audience would like it more
- Photos of editing
- Look at current rock music magazines online/shops and think about how mine could be different/similar

Research - Front Cover of all Rock magazines

These are a whole list of rock magazines that gave me a good idea of how to design mine. The text types, the text font, the images, the colours, the side-headings and the extra information all played a part in helping me decide which rock magazine I would go along with.

Double Page Spread

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD DRAFT

This is my double page spread. I have tried to put as much as text as I could in the double page spread as this is my main page and the page that the reader will want to read the most. I have added a cool background that is effective and drags the readers attention but it unfortunately came out black and white, I can't seem to change this. Also, I've put the name of the band and the title of the page both close within each other, so it grabs the readers attention again.

Contents Page Draft

                                  CONTENTS PAGE DRAFT

This is my Contents page for my music magazine draft. Although I haven't added a Twitter or Facebook link/account for others to interact, that will all come in the final magazine.

Also, I added in the bold headings in capital letters to have an effect on the reader, then the writing below it is in small writing so it doesn't grab the spotlight unlike the headings. Furthermore, I added the image at the top of the page and spreaded it as I thought that putting it anywhere else would be a bit original and I wanted to try something new. I numbered my pages on the contents page as well so the reader knows where to go straight away to see their preferred pages. I put my title 'Read All About It...' at the top of the page above the image so it's big, bold and can be seen. I don't want the main writing to be hidden away so the reader can't actually see it.

Finally, I added it an 'Editors' section of the contents page. This is something that other magazines do too, so I thought it would be a good idea. The Editor writes up about what will be inside the magazine to excite the reader before finally turning the page.

Front Page magazine

FRONT PAGE  EDIT

This is my Front Page for my music magazine draft. I have tried adding in as much as I possibly can from the music magazines that I have covered, such as the image in the middle of the magazine so it's centre of attention. Also, I've added a Twitter account at the bottom of the page so readers can interact with others about the latest band news. Furthermore, I put £1.99 in the bottom of the screen but it's bigger than what it would usually be in another magazine so that the price stands out for the readers. I used pink three times in the front page because it's a bright colour and it will mix well with black as it gives off a dark and light effect.

I didn't rearrange the two barcodes in the middle of the page as I'm finding it difficult but it's just a draft so it will be better come the real magazine.

Draft photos

These are the two images I have for my drafts at the moment. Both images shows a togetherness and that's what I wanted to convey in my music magazine. Although it's just a draft and I'm having to do my real magazine as well, I liked the photos I chosen from Google as in my music magazine, 'The Nutters' have 4 band members and they're a rock band too, just like Oasis.
